We live at 74th and Amsterdam Avenue. They inflate the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons on Central Park West, two long blocks away. Every single fucking Thanksgiving morning we wake up (early) to the sound of helicopters turning around over our building. Because god-for-fucking-bid they should miss a single shot of Sponge Bob. Even now, the helicopters are up taking shots of deflated Snoopy and partially inflated Dilbert. Can’t I sleep for just one more hour?

You live in NYC near the parade staging it’s one day. I’d wager a bet the staging location was there before you moved into your place. Most importantly you live in the greatest city ever, enjoy the festivities and be happy! I may be bias because I used to drive the rhinos underneath the balloons, and I miss NYC.

This year there might be more security, although I haven’t seen soldiers in the subway so far. But I am in for the duration - cooking, eating, and watching movies.

Fair enough. But I didn’t realize the turnaround was over the building until Thanksgiving 2001. But I’d probably have still moved in.

I don’t like ‘em either. Ever. They used to fly over us due to weather for tourist stuff all the time. Then 9/11 and everything stopped - what a difference in the experience of living. Then they were back, got rerouted because the density was going up around us, and now it’s only Green Harvest chopper noise every now and then.

Then, I get to come out of the house, look up, smile and wave. No weed on my land, bro. At least that your look down infrared detectors can see.
